Jumping into wildfires requires specialized training and equipment. Expert instructors prepare smokejumpers to enter mountainous terrain in hazardous conditions with low visibility and ever changing weather conditions to complete their missions.
Smokejumpers working to extinguish and prevent wildfires must learn how to safely land with extensive equipment and gear. Instructors guide operators through drills in full gear with heavy equipment loads to ensure they are trained to capability.
Courses include all equipment necessary for smoke jump scenarios, lodging and catering for the duration of the training, medical and other ancillary services, instructors, course directors and aircraft.
